On Wednesday, December 15 about 75 business council members, Canton Chamber members and a few special guests gathered at Northwest Community Bank to network and share some holiday cheer.  With light fare provided by Chatterley's and wine and beer provided by New Hartford Wine & Beverage, it was easy to get into the holiday spirit.

President, Dawn Whalen, made a few brief remarks, highlighting the successes of the 1st Annual 4-3-2-1 Holiday Weekend including the $1800 that was raised through the Holiday Marketplace penny auction.  Phil Havens, NHBC Vice President, presented a check to Andrea Gaedeke (Beekley Library) and Joan Auclair (Bakerville Library) with the proceeds, less expenses, from the penny auction.

NHBC_logoWorking To Advance The Economic Development Of New Hartford Businesses The New Hartford Business Council Launches NewHartfordBusinessCouncil.org

The New Hartford Business Council announces the launch of their new website NewHartfordBusinessCouncil.org. This is their latest initiative to support the retention and growth of New Hartford area businesses. Since 1987, the NHBC has worked tirelessly to promote networking and community activities among their members and neighboring businesses with the goal of fostering a positive business environment and creating opportunities for people to spend their dollars locally.

Through the combined efforts of the Business Council's website committee members, Philip Havens, Tina Rice and Dawn Whalen, the website was created to further promote their 23 year mission. The site will contain a member directory and NHBC members will be profiled on a rotating basis. NewHartfordBusinessCouncil.org was built on a content management system allowing the council to keep site visitors updated with the latest news and events.

"The New Hartford Business Council initiated this effort because we understand that the success of our local business owners affects us all," said Dawn Whalen, New Hartford Business Council President. "For New Hartford to continue to be a great town for families and businesses, we all must take responsibility and show our support."

On Wednesday, November 3, Mary Ann Gunning, innkeeper of Chapin Park Bed & Breakfast in the Pine Meadow section of New Hartford, graciously hosted the New Hartford Business Council morning mingler.  The well attended event had members from both New Hartford and Canton as well as interested members from the Canton Chamber of Commerce.  Members focused on providing a 30 second commercial on the service(s) their business provides.  NHBC president Dawn Whalen updated members on the launch of our new web site as well as upcoming community events such as the Holiday Marketplace and Light New Hartford, both NHBC sponsored events.
